A St. Louis Scratchers player is keeping a low profile after winning a $2 million top prize in the “Super Cash Bonanza” game.
“I don’t have any immediate big needs, so I’m just going to lay low for a while,” she shared.
When asked about her win, she explained she was with a friend and stopped at QuikTrip, 2030 Union Road in St. Louis, to get gas and grab a soda.
“I went in to buy my Diet Coke and, when I opened my wallet, there were two singles and a $20 bill,” she said. “I bought my soda and thought, ‘Hey, I’m feeling lucky,’ so I asked the clerk if he had a $20 Scratchers ticket.”
The “Super Cash Bonanza” Scratchers ticket he handed her held one of the game’s $2 million top prizes.
“I scratched the ticket in the car and kept looking at my friend after I matched the first couple numbers,” she recalled. “I was like, ‘Is this real?’ I was very calm about it.”
She shared she rarely bought Scratchers tickets and had never bought a $20 game.
“I only bought one ticket and it only takes one!” she concluded.
"Super Cash Bonanza" is a $20 Scratchers ticket released on April 24. The game currently offers over $30.3 million in unclaimed prizes, including another $2 million top prize and two $100,000 second prizes.
In FY22, players in St. Louis County won more than $205.1 million in Missouri Lottery prizes, retailers received over $19.5 million in commissions and bonuses, and more than $39 million in Lottery proceeds went to education programs in the county.
