Thanks to a travel detour on Thanksgiving, a Missouri Lottery player purchased a Show Me Cash jackpot-winning ticket worth $216,000 in Foristell.
“We were coming back from Mom & Dad's and had to take another way home,” the winner explained. “I stopped at a gas station and said, ‘Let’s get some Show Me Cash tickets.’”
He tucked his tickets into his pocket and forgot about it until the following day.
“Friday morning, we were cleaning the house,” he recalled. “My wife said, ‘Someone won the Show Me Cash!’
“I said, ‘Yep,’ and just kept working,” he chuckled. “Later that afternoon, I go to check my numbers and I’m looking at it like, ‘What? What? I won!’
“My wife said, ‘What did you win? $2 or $3?’ and I’m like, ‘No, I won!’ and she goes, ‘Ok, right.’
“Then I’m like ‘I won the Show Me Cash!’ It was unreal,” he laughed.
He purchased the winning ticket at FastLane, 21750 Veteran’s Memorial Parkway, in Foristell. The winning numbers on Nov. 23, were 12, 25, 27, 34 and 38.
Show Me Cash is drawn daily at 8:59 p.m., with jackpots that start at $50,000 and grow until won. Tonight’s jackpot is estimated at $99,000.
Through Jan. 9, Missouri Lottery players can enter their eligible Draw Games tickets and holiday-themed Scratchers tickets into the “Second Chance of a Lifetime: Anchors Away” holiday promotion for a chance to win taxes-paid cruises, coastal escapes or cash prizes.
Players who purchased tickets in St. Charles County in FY23 won more than $63.3 million in total Missouri Lottery prizes. Retailers in the county received more than $6.4 million in commissions and bonuses, and education programs received more than $6.3 million in appropriated Lottery proceeds.
