A Missouri Lottery player completed his trip to “reduce, reuse, recycle” by uncovering a $50,000 prize on a Scratchers ticket he purchased at Rocket, 2140 W. Terra Lane, in O’Fallon.

“I take my recycling stuff out there, and then I stopped by that service station and bought a ticket,” the winner said.

As a fan of $50 Scratchers games, he purchased a “$5,000,000 Fortune” ticket and headed out to his car to scratch it.

“When I saw the numbers all start to match, I stopped scratching and took it back in to have them check it,” he said.

The clerk took the ticket, scanned it, and then confirmed he had won one of 40 prizes of $50,000 offered in the game.

“After that, I took it back home to my wife and had her scratch the rest of it off,” he said. “By the time she was done, she was so excited!”
