A Missouri Lottery player who matched four of the five white-ball numbers as well as the Powerball number drawn won a $50,000 Powerball prize in the Sept. 14 drawing.
The winning ticket was purchased at 7-Eleven, 3201 Independence Ave., in Kansas City.
The player explained there was no rhyme or reason behind how he chose the winning numbers.
“It was by random,” the winner shared. “I just got lucky.”
The winner added that he plans to put the money into a savings account.
The winning numbers on Sept. 14 were 9, 10, 20, 22, and 52, and the Powerball number was 25. The winner claimed his prize at the Lottery’s Kansas City regional office on Sept. 16.
There are currently $150,000 in unclaimed Powerball prizes , including a $50,000 winning ticket sold at a QuikTrip in Kansas City. Any prize money that is unclaimed 180 days after the draw date of a ticket's last winning play will go to benefit Missouri public education.
In FY21, players in Jackson County won more than $103.1 million in Missouri Lottery prizes, retailers received more than $9.3 million in commissions and bonuses, and more than $50.2 million in Lottery proceeds went to education programs in the county.
