Powerball Winner 'Ecstatic' After $50,000 Win

Feb. 15, 2023

A Powerball player in Jefferson City was “ecstatic” after winning a $50,000 prize by matching four white-ball numbers and the Powerball number in the Feb. 6 drawing.

“I got up at midnight to check the (Powerball) numbers and saw that someone had won the jackpot,” the winner recalled.

“I checked my numbers and saw I matched the Powerball. Then I started reading and matched one, two, three numbers…and said, ‘Wait a minute – there’s a fourth number!’”

The winning numbers drawn on Feb. 6 were 5, 11, 22, 23 and 69, with a Powerball of 7.

“I thought at first I had won $100. I had to go check the prize for matching four white balls – then saw I won $50,000. I was ecstatic.”

The winner claimed his prize at Lottery Headquarters the following morning.

“I couldn’t sleep last night,” the winner admitted.

He plans to use some of the winnings to take his family to Hawaii.

The winning ticket was purchased at Break Time, 801 Stadium Blvd., in Jefferson City.

Tonight’s Powerball jackpot is estimated at $57 million. If the Powerball jackpot is hit, the “Jackpot Reset” promotion will be activated – giving players who buy three Powerball plays on a single ticket a free $2 Powerball ticket.

Players who purchased tickets in Cole County in FY22 won more than $16.5 million in total Missouri Lottery prizes. Retailers in the county received more than $1.5 million in commissions and bonuses in FY22, and education programs received more than $3.6 million in appropriated Lottery proceeds.
