Powerball Player Wins $2 Million with Power Play in Laurie

Jan. 23, 2023

A lucky Powerball player matched all five white-ball numbers drawn in the game’s Jan. 7 drawing to win a $1 million base prize. Because the player also added Power Play to his ticket for an extra $1, the prize was automatically doubled to $2 million.

The player said he semi-regularly purchases tickets for Powerball, Mega Millions and Show Me Cash all at once during the week. When he heard that a $2 million winning ticket had been sold for the Jan. 7 drawing at FastLane, 200 Brook Lane in Laurie, he initially didn’t think he had purchased tickets for that drawing.

Upon checking his tickets, though, he discovered that he had indeed purchased a Powerball ticket for Jan. 7. Checking the winning numbers with the Missouri Lottery mobile app, the winner discovered he had matched the five white-ball numbers drawn: 35, 36, 44, 45 and 67.

His ticket is the 70th Powerball ticket sold in Missouri to win the $1 million “Match 5” prize since 2012 and the second to double the prize to $2 million with the addition of Power Play.

In FY22, Missouri Lottery players in Morgan County won more than $3.5 million in prizes. Retailers in the county received more than $353,000 in commissions and bonuses, and more than $275,000 in appropriated Lottery funds were used to support educational programs in the county.
