A Missouri Lottery player’s routine pit stop turned his lunch break into a big winning occasion when he uncovered a $50,000 prize on a “Fruit Loot” Scratchers ticket.
He purchased the ticket at QuikTrip, 1401 Armour Road in Kansas City, and began scratching it off in his car.
“I like this kind of ticket,” he explained. “It takes a little time to scratch it all the way off and gives me a little bit of relaxation during lunch time.”
However, his relaxation quickly turned into excitement once he realized he had won a $50,000 prize.
“I double checked it. I triple checked it!” he said. “I even quadruple checked it, and then I was like, ‘Man! I just won $50,000!’”
He called his wife right away to tell her the good news.
“She was shocked,” he said. “It was a very pleasant surprise!”
So far, “Fruit Loot” players have won over $5.5 million in prizes playing the $3 game. Over $7.4 million remain in unclaimed prizes, including three more top prizes of $50,000.
In FY22, players in Clay County won more than $30.5 million in Missouri Lottery prizes, retailers received more than $2.7 million in commissions and bonuses, and more than $5 million in Lottery proceeds went to education programs in the county.
