After nearly five years of playing Lotto together, a trio of friends hit the jackpot when their numbers matched all six winning numbers drawn in the April 26 drawing.
One of the players, who is the group’s appointed ticket purchaser, stopped at Prenger Foods, 105 W. Smith St. in Sturgeon, and bought the ticket containing the numbers 2, 6, 8, 10, 16 and 28.
“It was just a Quick Pick,” he said.
The day after the drawing, he checked the ticket and was immediately stunned.
“I saw we won $2 million, and I couldn’t believe it!” he shared.
Lotto is an in-state game with drawings held every Wednesday and Saturday at 8:59 p.m. The jackpot for Saturday, May 17, is estimated at $1.5 million.
In FY24, players in Boone County won more than $23.9 million in Missouri Lottery prizes, retailers received more than $2.4 million in commissions and bonuses, and more than $53.2 million in Lottery proceeds went to education programs in the county.
