A Missouri Lottery player purchased a “Crossword Xtreme” Scratchers ticket at Express Fuel, 99 Pharris Road in Sikeston, and uncovered a $50,000 prize.
“I was traveling for work and had a really bad week,” he shared. “I picked up a couple of tickets and took them back to the hotel to scratch.”
Unbeknownst to him, one of the tickets he’d bought held one of the game’s top prizes.
“I had it in my pocket, and some of the letters rubbed off before I scratched it,” he explained.
“I said, ‘Well, there’s at least four words here.’ I took it in to a store to scan it, and it ended up being $50,000!”
He shared plans to use some of his winnings to invest in tools.
“Crossword Xtreme” is a $3 Scratchers ticket released on June 28. The game currently offers over $10.7 million in unclaimed prizes, including eight additional $50,000 prizes.
In FY23, players in New Madrid County won more than $4.4 million in Missouri Lottery prizes, retailers received over $455,000 in commissions and bonuses, and more than $235,000 in Lottery proceeds went to education programs in the county.
