A Missouri Lottery player won a $50,000 Scratchers prize after purchasing a “Stacks of Cash” ticket at Wallis Petroleum, 13898 Highway 367 N., in West Alton.

The player explained she had bought the ticket, but waited until later to play it.

“I was with my husband as I was scratching it off,” she said. “And I just started hitting his arm a bit going, ‘I think it’s a big one! Oh my God!’”

Her husband didn’t believe her, even after examining the ticket.

“He thought it was trick!” she laughed. “But it was real.”

Though they both knew how much they had won, she said it still didn’t feel real until they claimed the ticket at the Missouri Lottery regional office in St. Louis.

“I was just like, ‘Is this really happening?’” she shared.

She also added that they plan to invest the money into upgrading their house.

“We did the bathrooms last year, so this will go towards the rest of it,” she said.

Stacks of Cash” is a $10 Scratchers game. The game offers prizes ranging from $10 up to a top prize of $1 million. Currently, there are over $13.3 million in unclaimed prizes in the game, including one more $50,000 prize and a top prize of $1 million.

In FY21, players in St. Charles County won more than $68.7 million in Missouri Lottery prizes, retailers received more than $6 million in commissions and bonuses, and more than $18.9 million in Lottery proceeds went to education programs in the county.
