A Missouri Lottery player in Jackson County said he had a restless night after uncovering a top prize on a “America 250” Scratchers ticket.

“I was a little shaky after scratching all that off and couldn't go to sleep that night," the winner recalled, after claiming his prize at the Lottery’s regional office in Independence. “To be 100% honest, I still don't think it's completely sunk in.”

The winning ticket was purchased at Pilot Travel Centers, 1300 N. Corrington Ave. in Kansas City, and held one of six top prizes offered in the “America 250” Scratchers game.

Celebrating 250 years, the $10 game features top prizes of $250,000, and it’s also loaded with $250 prizes. To date, players have won more than $18.9 million in prizes since the ticket was released in late May. Currently, three additional top prizes remain unclaimed, as well as more than 5,000 prizes of $250.

In FY26, Jackson County players won more than $94.5 million in Missouri Lottery prizes, retailers received more than $9.3 million in commissions and bonuses, and more than $19.6 million in Lottery proceeds went to education programs in the county.
