$228,000 Jackpot Winner Jealous of Her Own Win

Sep 25, 2026

A Missouri Lottery player in Arnold saw a sign announcing a Show Me Cash jackpot winner and had a twinge of jealousy. As it turns out, she had no reason to be envious. She was the lucky ticket holder.

“I was like, ‘God, why couldn’t that be me?’ she laughed, recalling the moment she’d seen that a $228,000 jackpot had been won at Circle K, 504 Jeffco Blvd.

“So I went into the gas station, got me a soda and went home. Then I was like, ‘Let me check my numbers,’” she said. “I check my numbers and… yeah, I won.”

After an initial moment of disbelief, she told a handful of people about her win.

“I tell everybody I don’t play Powerball or Mega Millions. I play Show Me Cash because it’s only in Missouri,” she shared. “And everybody’s like, ‘Oh, you’re never going to win,’ and I say I have better odds of winning that than anything else, so I’m going to keep playing!”

She laughed again before adding, “So now, everybody’s like, “OK, maybe I should play.”

She has already invested some of her winnings for retirement and plans to use some as a down payment on a house, as well.

“I’m trying to be responsible with it,” she concluded.

Her winning ticket from the Aug. 10 drawing matched all five numbers – 4, 12, 23, 24 and 37.

Show Me Cash drawings are held daily at 8:59 p.m., with jackpots that start at $50,000 and grow until won. Tonight’s jackpot is estimated at $113,000.

In FY26, Jefferson County players won more than $51.7 million in Missouri Lottery prizes, retailers received more than $3.9 million in commissions and bonuses, and more than $8.7 million in Lottery proceeds went to education programs in the county.
