Closer Look Reveals $100,000 Mega Millions Prize in Mercer County

A Quick Pick ticket for the Sept. 8 Mega Millions drawing resulted in a $100,000 prize for a pair of Missouri Lottery players in central Mercer County. They purchased the winning ticket at Casey’s, 21649 Highway 65, in Princeton.

“We thought we had won maybe $500 or something,” one of the winner’s shared.

After taking a closer look, his girlfriend realized the true value of the ticket. Not only had they matched four out of five white-ball numbers, but they had also matched the Mega Ball number for a base prize of $10,000. However, because the Mega Millions built-in multiplier on their ticket was 10X,  the base prize automatically increased from $10,000 to $100,000.

“We’ve never won this much before on the Lottery!” the boyfriend exclaimed.

Mega Millions is a multi-state Draw Game with drawings held on Tuesdays and Fridays at 10 p.m. The estimated Jackpot for Tuesday’s drawing is $261 million.

During FY26, players in Mercer County won more than $277,900 in Missouri Lottery prizes, retailers received more than $29,800 in commissions and bonuses, and more than $239,300 in Lottery proceeds went to educational programs in the county.
