A Missouri Lottery player won a $50,000 Powerball prize on June 17. The win was made possible because he’d added the Double Play option to his ticket to play the same set of numbers in both the main Powerball drawing and the Double Play drawing.

His ticket, purchased at Hy-Vee, 625 Highway 40 in Blue Springs, matched four out of five white-ball numbers, as well as the Powerball number, in the Double Play drawing.

The winner shared he was at the checkout counter at Hy-Vee following his win when a store employee was talking about how the store sold a winning Powerball ticket, and she hoped the winner was a regular customer.

The winner chuckled, “I looked at her and said, ‘It was me! And I am a regular customer.’”

The Double Play winning numbers for the June 17 drawing were 10, 17, 44, 63 and 67, and the Powerball number was 24.

During FY25, players in Jackson County won more than $96.8 million in Missouri Lottery prizes, retailers received more than $8.9 million in commissions and bonuses, and more than $31.6 million in Lottery proceeds went to educational programs in the county.
