A Missouri Lottery player won a $100,000 prize on a “Money” Scratchers ticket he purchased at Discount Smokes & Liquor, 17 E. Highway 69, in Kansas City.

“I won a little on the tickets my daughter gave me for Father’s Day,” said the winner. “We cashed thoses in, and I asked the clerk for one of the tickets that looked like a $100 bill.”

That’s when things got interesting. The winner began scratching the right side of the ticket and uncovered a $1,000 prize before letting his daughter take over.

“I saw a $1,000 prize and thought ‘Cool!’ and handed the ticket to my daughter to finish scratching. She yelled, ‘Dad, we got $50,000!’” he laughed. “It just kept growing from there!”

So far, players have won over $15.6 million in prizes playing the $20 “Money” game. There are more than $35 million in prizes remaining, including one top prize of $2 million and an additional $100,000 prize.

During FY25, players in Clay County won more than $39.3 million in Missouri Lottery prizes, retailers received more than $2.9 million in commissions and bonuses, and more than $17.2 million in Lottery proceeds went to educational programs in the county.
