A Missouri Lottery player’s family felt a wide range of emotions after learning about his $2 million win. The top-prize win came on a “Money” Scratchers ticket he purchased at Save A Lot, 20250 Rock Road, in De Soto.

“I played the ticket when it first came out,” he explained. “I won $100 here or there. I scratched this one off and asked my wife, ‘Does that say $2 million?’”

“She said, ‘Oh, my God. It looks real!’” he laughed.

After verifying the ticket was a winner, he shared the good news with his parents.

“I showed them the ticket at dinner, and my mom and dad both cried. My dad said, ‘I didn’t think I would ever see one of my kids become a millionaire.’”

To date, players have won more than $15.4 million in prizes playing the $20 “Money" game. One $100,000 second-prize remains unclaimed, as well as one more top prize of $2 million.

In FY25, Jefferson County players won more than $40.4 million in Missouri Lottery prizes, retailers received more than $19.1 million in commissions and bonuses, and more than $3.6 million in Lottery proceeds went to education programs in the county.
