A Missouri Lottery player in Greene County couldn’t believe his eyes when he revealed a $100,000 top prize on a “Mystery Prize Crossword” Scratchers ticket. He purchased the ticket at AM PM Food Mart, 2720 W. Kearney St., in Springfield.

The winner recalled how he’d played Scratchers tickets in the past and won, but never this much.

“I didn’t believe it until I took it into the actual office and had the lady read it back to me like three times,” he chuckled. “I kept looking at it over a whole weekend, and I still didn’t believe it.”

When asked about any potential plans for the money, the winner said he’s taking it slow.

“If you don’t spend it right, it can go pretty fast,” he replied. “I’m letting it sit and thinking about it.”

So far, players have won more than $10.7 million in prizes on the “Mystery Prize Crossword” game. Four additional $100,000 top prizes have yet to be claimed.

In FY25, Greene County players won more than $41.7 million in Missouri Lottery prizes, retailers received more than $4 million in commissions and bonuses, and more than $15.9 million in Lottery proceeds went to education programs in the county.
