Lunch Run Turns into $50,000 Powerball Prize

Feb 24, 2026

While picking up some lunch for her husband at Carr Lane Country Stop, 8845 Highway 86 West in Shell Knob, a Missouri Lottery player decided to purchase a Powerball ticket for the Feb. 16 drawing.

“I’ve never bought a ticket there before, so I thought, ‘Why not?’” the winner said.

A few days after the drawing, she remembered the ticket and retrieved it from her purse to check the winning numbers – only to realize she’d won a $50,000 prize.

“I was just shocked! I’ve never won anything over $28!” she joked.

The winning numbers on Feb. 16 were 16, 18, 19, 56 and 58 with a Powerball number of 6. Her winning ticket matched four of the five white-ball numbers, along with the Powerball.

Powerball is a multi-state Draw Game with drawings held on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays at 9:59 p.m. Wednesday’s drawing has an estimated jackpot of $218 million.

In FY25, players in Stone County won more than $3.5 million in Missouri Lottery prizes, retailers received more than $342,000 in commissions and bonuses, and more than $1 million in Lottery proceeds went to education programs in the county.
