Scratchers Player Uncovers '500X' Symbol to Win $50,000 Prize

Jan 30, 2026

A  Missouri Lottery player in Jackson County uncovered a $50,000 prize on a “500X” Scratchers ticket purchased at QuikTrip, 4024 S. Noland Road, in Independence.

“I scratched the barcode at the bottom of the ticket and it said, ‘Claim at Lottery Office.’ I knew something was out of the norm – I’d never seen that before,” the winner recalled.

“I went to my car and starting scratching off the numbers and found a ‘500X’ symbol,” he continued. “I kept doing the math on my calculator and said, ‘There’s no way!’”

That ‘500X’ symbol immediately multiplied his prize by 500, turning a $100 prize into $50,000.

“I called my wife and told her that I was freaking out. She was in shock and telling me to calm down,” he laughed.

To date, players have won more than $207.7 million in prizes in the “500X” Scratchers game, with more than $49.8 million in prizes yet to be claimed – including eight additional $50,000 prizes and one $5 million top prize.

In FY25, Jackson County players won more than $96.8 million in Missouri Lottery prizes, retailers received more than $8.9 million in commissions and bonuses, and more than $31.6 million in Lottery proceeds went to education programs in the county.
