Jan 29, 2026

A Missouri Lottery player in Festus won a $50,000 Powerball prize – and the chance to return to volunteer work.

“I got a new car that has let me get back to volunteering,” the winner said. “It brings me so much joy to be able to work with the people I do, and I’m very happy to be able to do that again.”

He purchased the winning ticket for the Jan. 3 Powerball drawing at Festus Fuel & Food Mart, 2591 Highway 61, in Festus.

“It was just a Quick Pick ticket,” the winner added.

The winning numbers on Jan. 3 were 18, 21, 40, 53 and 60 with a Powerball number of 23. His winning ticket matched four of the five white-ball numbers, along with the Powerball.

Powerball is a multi-state Draw Game with drawings held on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays at 9:59 p.m. Saturday’s drawing has an estimated jackpot of $57 million.

In FY25, players in Jefferson County won more than $40.4 million in Missouri Lottery prizes, retailers received more than $3.6 million in commissions and bonuses, and more than $19.1 million in Lottery proceeds went to education programs in the county.
