Columbia Player Wins $1 Million Scratchers Prize

Jan 27, 2026

A routine stop at Casey’s, 2520 Range Line St. in Columbia, turned into a $1 million win for one lucky Missouri Lottery player.

“I wasn’t really expecting anything,” the winner said.

In fact, when he saw he’d won a $1 million prize on his “$250 Million Extravaganza” Scratchers ticket, he was at a loss.

“I was standing there scratching it off, and I see the prize and I just stare at it for a minute or so,” he said. “I took out my calculator and I did the math over and over again!”

He quickly signed the back of the ticket and took it home to put it in his safe, where it stayed until he claimed the prize weeks later at Lottery headquarters in Jefferson City.
"It was just totally unexpected!” he said.

Since “$250 Million Extravaganza” sales began on May 27, 2025, players have won over $64.3 million in prizes playing the $50 game. Over $202.9 million remain in unclaimed prizes, including two top prizes of $5 million, two additional prizes of $1 million and 41 prizes of $50,000.

Players who purchased tickets in Boone County last fiscal year won more than $25.8 million in total Missouri Lottery prizes. Retailers received more than $2.3 million in commissions and bonuses, and education programs in the county received more than $52 million in appropriated Lottery proceeds.
