While driving home after a family luncheon, a Missouri Lottery player asked her husband to stop and grab a couple of Scratchers tickets at QuikTrip, 11101 E. 40 Highway, in Independence. To her amazement, the purchase included a “$1,000,000 Cash Craze” ticket that would end up being worth $50,000.

As she scratched the ticket in the car during the ride home, she was caught by surprise when the first spot she uncovered was an instant-win coin symbol for $2,500.

“I looked at my husband and said, ‘Baby, guess what?’” the winner laughed. “He said, ‘Nah. Don’t tell me until we get home.’”

She continued scratching the ticket, which revealed more and more prizes as she went. By the time she was done, the prize total had grown to $50,000.

“As soon was we got in the house, I told him he needed to put on his glasses and sit down!” she laughed. “He asked, ‘Is this real?’ and I said, ‘Yes, baby! It is!”

So far, “$1,000,000 Cash Craze” players have won over $21.2 million in prizes. Currently, over $12.9 million in prizes remain unclaimed in the game, including a top prize of $1 milllion and one additional $50,000 prize.

In FY25, players in Jackson County won more than $96.8 million in Missouri Lottery prizes, retailers received more than $8.9 million in commissions and bonuses, and more than $31.6 million in Lottery proceeds went to education programs in the county.
