After an enthusiastic store clerk told him he’d won a $327,000 Show Me Cash jackpot, a Platte County Lottery player then had to convince his son the win was real.

“It took (the store clerk) a few minutes to be able to tell me what was going on,” the winner shared. “He couldn’t talk he was so excited. He just kept saying, ‘You won! You won! You won!’ And I kept saying, ‘What did I win?’ because I didn’t even know what the jackpot was.”

The next order of business was to share the good news with his son.

“He didn’t believe me,” the winner chuckled. “He said, ‘You’ve never won anything in your life,’ and it took a while to convince him.”

Eventually, his son was persuaded. The Show Me Cash ticket his father purchased at Phillips 66, 6250 N.W. Barry Road in Kansas City, had matched all five numbers drawn on Dec. 18 to win a $327,000 jackpot. The winning numbers that night were 2, 19, 22, 28 and 33.

“I have no plans right now. I don’t really know what I’m going to do with the money – probably buy a few more lottery tickets,” the winner laughed.

“It was an extra nice Christmas,” he added. “I’ll keep plugging down the road and consider it a lucky windfall and carry through the rest of my retirement years.”

Show Me Cash is a daily Draw Game, which offers jackpots that start at $50,000 and grow until won. A $132,000 jackpot was won in last night’s drawing, so tonight’s Show Me Cash jackpot resets to $50,000.

In FY24, players in Platte County won more than $18.6 million playing Missouri Lottery games, retailers received more than $1.4 million in commissions and bonuses for selling Lottery tickets, and education programs in the county received more than $320,000 from Lottery proceeds.
