A Missouri Lottery player made a list and, after checking it twice, realized she had won $100,000 on a “20X Crossword” Scratchers ticket purchased at Ayerco, 304 Highway 61 S., in Hannibal.

The winner explained she and her family were sitting at the table after dinner when her husband began scratching the ticket.

“I thought my husband was kidding when he said he found nine words and we won!” she shared, referring to how the game offers higher prizes for each word matched.

To double-check, the couple made a list of the words and recounted. That’s when they realized they had actually uncovered not nine, but 10 words to win one of the game’s top prizes.

So far, Missouri Lottery players have won more than $12.9 million in prizes since the “20X Crossword” game was released in April. More than $4.1 million in unclaimed prizes remain, including an additional $100,000 prize and one $30,000 prize.

In FY24, players in Marion County won more than $6.9 million in Missouri Lottery prizes, retailers received more than $700,000 in commissions and bonuses, and more than $830,000 in Lottery proceeds went to education programs in the county.
