A quick stop for gas at Circle K, 7449 Olive Blvd. in St. Louis, led to a $228,000 jackpot prize for a Missouri Lottery player when he decided to purchase a Show Me Cash ticket for the Oct. 14 drawing.

“My work vehicle said it was low on gas,” the winner explained. “I filled up my work vehicle, and I was like, ‘Oh, I’ll go in there and buy a couple (Lotto and Show Me Cash tickets).’”

He checked the winning numbers the next morning and realized his ticket matched all five numbers drawn. The winning numbers that night were 1, 18, 23, 34 and 36.

The winner shared his plans to use the winnings to build a new home for he and his wife.

“About two or three years ago, we bought 2.5 acres. We were planning on building on that but we had like a three-year plan,” he shared. “We wanted to go into it debt free. So now, with these winnings, basically we’re debt free and we can start building right away.”

Show Me Cash is drawn daily at 8:59 p.m., with jackpots that start at $50,000 and grow until won. Tonight’s jackpot is estimated at $166,000.

In FY23, players in St. Louis County won more than $207.7 million in Missouri Lottery prizes, retailers received more than $20 million in commissions and bonuses, and more than $76 million in Lottery proceeds went to education programs in the county.
