Couple Has Big Plans for $50,000 Powerball Prize

Oct 19, 2023

A lucky Miller County couple won a $50,000 Powerball prize when the ticket they purchased at Casey’s, 400 Kestrel Lane in Lake Ozark, matched four of the five white-ball numbers drawn, as well as the Powerball number, in the July 19 drawing.

The couple, who just recently claimed their prize on Oct. 10 at Missouri Lottery headquarters, said the win left them, “speechless.”

“I checked it at the store and the guy goes, ‘You won!’” the husband said. “And I said, ‘What, $500?’ and he says, ‘No! $50,000!’”

He called his wife right away.

“He wouldn’t tell me how much it was until we got to the office!” she said.

But he did give her a hint.

“I told her, ‘I won’t tell you how much it is, but we’re going to pay the house off!” he said.

The winning numbers on July 19 were 7, 10, 11, 13 and 24, with a Powerball number of 24.

Powerball is a $2 per play multi-state Draw Game with drawings held on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays at 9:59 p.m. All current and past winning numbers can be found at MOLottery.com.

In FY23, players in Miller County won more than $4.3 million in Missouri Lottery prizes, retailers received more than $438,000 in commissions and bonuses, and more than $148,000 in Lottery proceeds went to education programs in the county.
