A Show Me Cash player and his wife were in disbelief after winning a jackpot prize of $112,000 on a Quick Pick ticket for the Aug. 22 drawing.

The winner’s wife explained he typically selects his own numbers, but he decided to use the Quick Pick option when he purchased the ticket at Walmart, 1320 S. Glenstone Ave., in Springfield.

He checked the winning numbers later in the evening and immediately told his wife the good news that their ticket matched all five numbers drawn. The winning numbers that night were 10, 23, 24, 27 and 31.

His wife shared that her husband became emotional after realizing they had won.

“My husband never cries, and he got choked up,” she said.

The winner plans to retire in the coming months and use some of the winnings to take a trip with his wife.

 “We want to do some traveling,” his wife added. “I’ve gone on vacations, he’s gone on vacations, but the two of us have never gone on vacation ourselves together.”

Show Me Cash is drawn daily at 8:59 p.m., with jackpots that start at $50,000 and grow until won. Tonight’s jackpot is estimated at $85,000.

In FY22, players in Greene County won more than $48.5 million in Missouri Lottery prizes, retailers received more than $4.7 million in commissions and bonuses, and more than $20.7 million in Lottery proceeds went to education programs in the county.
