A married couple in Harrison County won a $100,000 top prize after the husband stopped at Kum & Go, 3807 Miller St. in Bethany, and purchased a Missouri Lottery “In the Green” Scratchers ticket.

“He was the one who bought the ticket and then scratched it off,” his wife said.

When he began to scratch off the ticket, he realized instantly that it was a winner, but he could not believe just how much he had won.

“The first spot was $5,000, and I still had a lot of spots to scratch!” he said.

Once he got home, he waited until his wife was finished watching a TV show before telling her the news.

“I told her, ‘Come here and sit down. I’ve got something to tell you,” he shared. “And she goes, ‘Is it bad or good?’”

He went on to say she had to get a piece of paper and do the math to figure out exactly how much he had won.

“We were kind of in shock for a few days,” she added.

So far, “In the Green” players have won over $3.9 million in prizes playing the $5 game. Over $16 million remain in unclaimed prizes, including one more top prize of $100,000.

In FY22, players in Harrison County won more than $1.3 million in Missouri Lottery prizes, retailers received more than $139,000 in commissions and bonuses, and more than $202,000 in Lottery proceeds went to education programs in the county.
