A Missouri Lottery player in Ralls County wasn’t aware she had a winning Powerball ticket worth $50,000 until she received a call from her sister.

“I didn’t check my ticket or anything,” the winner recalled. “My sister, who lives out of state, called me after she saw that a winning ticket was sold in New London. She said, ‘Check your ticket!’”

It turns out that ticket matched four of the five white-ball numbers drawn, plus the Powerball, in the July 17 drawing. The winning numbers were 5, 8, 9, 17 and 41, with a Powerball of 21.

“I had to call her back to tell her, and she started laughing and said, ‘I knew it!’” the winner laughed. “I’m going to have to get her a crystal ball!” 

Tonight’s Powerball jackpot is estimated at $41 million. 

Players who purchased tickets in Ralls County in FY22 won more than $1.4 million in total Missouri Lottery prizes. Retailers in the county received more than $149,000 in commissions and bonuses in FY22, and education programs received more than $198,000 in appropriated Lottery proceeds.
