A Scratchers player in Kansas City is keeping her recent $1 million win a secret – until she can tell her family in person.

“I’ve only told close family so far,” the winner explained. “I’m going to wait to tell all the relatives at our family reunion!”

She won a $1 million prize on a “500X” Scratchers ticket purchased at Windstar, 7007 Longview Road in Kansas City, and recalled the retailer’s kind words.

“The clerk at the store told me I was going to win big one day,” she laughed.

She plans to share her winnings with her family.

“I’m going to buy my Momma a house,” she explained.

So far, “500X” players have won over $27.2 million in prizes. Over $230.3 million remain in unclaimed prizes, including two top prizes of $5 million, four additional $1 million prizes and 45 $50,000 prizes. 

In FY22, players in Jackson County have won more than $103.1 million in Missouri Lottery prizes, retailers received more than $9.3 million in commissions and bonuses, and more than $50.2 million in Lottery proceeds went to education programs in the county.
