A Missouri Lottery player who decided to try his luck on a game he doesn’t normally play won a $1 million Scratchers prize on a “Millionaire Blowout” ticket he purchased at Phillips 66, 19300 E. Highway 24, in Independence.

“I wanted to try out the $50 ticket,” the player said. “I usually just play the $10 games, but I thought I’d give it a try.”

He would soon realize his new ticket held one of 21 $1 million prizes offered in the game.

“I thought it was a $1,000 prize, but then I kept counting more zeros!” he said. “I was shocked. I was really shocked!”

So far, “Millionaire Blowout” players have won over $223.8 million in prizes playing the $50 game. Over $123.7 million remain in unclaimed prizes, including one top prize of $5 million, seven more $1 million prizes and 17 $50,000 prizes.

In FY22, players in Jackson County won more than $103.1 million in Missouri Lottery prizes, retailers received more than $9.3 in commissions and bonuses, and more than $50.2 million in Lottery proceeds went to education programs in the county.
