A Missouri Lottery player in St. Louis asked a clerk to choose a $5 Scratchers for him and was handed a “Whole Lotta $500s” ticket that ended up being worth $100,000.

“It was a really random purchase,” the winner explained. “I asked for a $5 ticket and the clerk asked, ‘Which one?’ I told him to pick one out.”

After totaling up all the prizes on his ticket, he realized he’d won one of the games $100,000 top prizes.

“I went back to the store to check it, and it was a winner. The whole store was excited,” he laughed. “Everybody’s really excited.”

He shared plans to purchase a house with some of the winnings.

The winning ticket was purchased at Elite Liquor, 9797 W. Florissant Ave., in St. Louis.
