A Missouri Lottery player won a $100,000 prize on a “$100,000 Fortune” Scratchers ticket purchased at Discount Smoke Shop, 4340 Loughborough Ave. in St. Louis. The winner took the ticket home, where she later unscratched it to reveal a top-prize win.

 “When I started scratching off the prize, I thought I won a $100,” she said.

Once she finished, though, she quickly realized she had mistaken the comma for a period, and she had actually won $100,000.

She added that she was on the phone with a friend at the time and expressed her disbelief to her in real time.

“I just kept going ‘No, no way!’” she said.

In FY22, players in St. Louis County won more than $205.1 million in Missouri Lottery prizes, retailers received more than $19.5 million in commissions and bonuses, and more than $39 million in Lottery proceeds went to education programs in the county.
