A Missouri Lottery player’s decision to try the newest $20 Scratchers ticket, “$2,000,000 Ultimate Cash!” ended with the discovery of one of the game’s top prizes of $2 million.

The player, who said he doesn’t normally play Scratchers, purchased the winning ticket at C&R Market, 1021 W. Buchanan St., in California.

“I said, ‘I’m going to take a shot here and see what happens,’” he explained.

After purchasing several tickets, he took them home to scratch with his wife. The two scratched a few of them, then put what they would soon find out to be a $2 million winner on their nightstand for the night. The next day, they scratched the ticket and discovered they had won a top prize.

“$2,000,000 Ultimate Cash!” became available in December. Players have won more than $10 million of the game’s prizes, with $40.7 million in unclaimed prizes including another top prize of $2 million and four $100,000 prizes.
Players in Moniteau County won more than $2.7 million in Missouri Lottery players in the last fiscal year. Retailers in the county received more than $269,000 in commissions and bonuses, and educational programs received more than $244,000 in Lottery funds.
