“I guess 13 is a lucky number for me,” the winner of a $100,000 Powerball prize laughed about the ticket he bought on Friday, Jan. 13, for the drawing to be held the next day.

His lucky ticket matched four of the five white-ball numbers, plus the Powerball, to win a $50,000 prize in the Jan. 14 drawing. Because he added Power Play to his ticket, the prize was automatically doubled to $100,000 when the Power Play number drawn was 2.

“I thought I had won $200,” the winner recalled. “I went to where I had bought the ticket and when I scanned it, it said ‘Claim at Lottery Office.’”

“The guy working scanned it for me and said, ‘Oh my God! You just won $100,000!’” he shared. “He was more excited than I was!”

The winning ticket was purchased at Joel’s Benton Park BP, 1815 Arsenal, in St. Louis.

The winning numbers drawn in the Jan. 14 drawing were: 24, 26, 39, 47 and 57, with a Powerball of 23. The winner explained he used Quick Pick to choose his five numbers but selected the Powerball number himself.

Tonight’s Powerball jackpot is estimated at $526 million. If the Powerball jackpot is hit, the “Jackpot Reset” promotion will be activated – giving players who buy three Powerball plays on a single ticket a free $2 Powerball ticket.

Players who purchased tickets in St. Louis City in FY22 won more than $46.6 million in total Missouri Lottery prizes. Retailers in the county received more than $4.7 million in commissions and bonuses in FY22, and education programs received more than $9.4 million in appropriated Lottery proceeds.
