Double Play Leads to $50,000 Powerball Prize in St. Louis

Dec 13, 2022

A Powerball player in St. Louis used Powerball’s Double Play feature to play his numbers again in a separate drawing – a move that turned his ticket into a $50,000 prize in the Nov. 7 drawing. The winning ticket was purchased at Clayton & Big Bend Service, 7001 Clayton Drive, in St. Louis.

Double Play is an optional game feature that allows Powerball players to play their numbers again in a second drawing for a chance to win up to $10 million. The feature is an additional $1 per play. Powerball tickets with Double Play are eligible to win any prize in the main Powerball drawing as well as the Double Play drawing, or both.

The Double Play numbers drawn that night were 1, 21, 27, 29 and 40, and the Double Play Powerball number was 18. The ticket matched four of the five white-ball numbers, plus the Powerball, to win a $50,000 prize.

Five other Powerball tickets sold in the state won $50,000 in the main drawing on Nov. 7. Two $1 million prizes and a $100,000 prize were also won on Powerball tickets sold in Missouri for the main drawing.

Wednesday’s Powerball jackpot is estimated at $134 million. If the Powerball jackpot is hit, the “Jackpot Reset” promotion will be activated – giving players who buy three Powerball plays on a single ticket a free $2 Powerball ticket.

Players who purchased tickets in St. Louis County in FY22 won more than $205.1 million in total Missouri Lottery prizes. Retailers in the county received more than $19.5 million in commissions and bonuses in FY22, and education programs received more than $39 million in appropriated Lottery proceeds.
