First $100,000 Top Prize Won in ‘Red Hot Cash’ Game

Dec 12, 2022

A Missouri Lottery player has claimed the first of four $100,000 top prizes on a “Red Hot Cash” Scratchers ticket. The winning ticket was purchased at Schnucks Market, 3430 S. Grand Blvd., in St. Louis.

“Something told me to try my luck with the new ticket,” the player shared.

After partially scratching the ticket off, she explained she thought she had won a smaller amount.

“I looked over at my mom and was like, ‘Oh my God, Mom. I just won $5,000,’” she laughed. “She thought I was joking.”

It wasn’t until the ticket was fully scratched off that she realized how much she actually won.

“Oh, my God. I won $100,000,” the winner said. “I just cried.”

She shared plans to help family members out financially this season.

"Red Hot Cash" is a $5 game with over $12.7 million in unclaimed prizes, including three more top prizes of $100,000.

In FY22, players in St. Louis County won more than $205.1 million in Missouri Lottery prizes, retailers received more than $19.5 million in commissions and bonuses, and more than $39 million in Lottery proceeds went to education programs in the county.
