While at Big Apple Travel Plaza, 2100 S. Prigmore Ave. in Joplin, a Missouri Lottery player decided to purchase an “Ace of Spades” Scratchers ticket.

“It was just on a whim,” she explained. “Just totally random.”

Once she scratched off the ticket, she realized she had won one of six $100,000 top prizes offered in the game.

“I was just totally shocked!” the player said. “I had to have someone else look at it to see if it was real.”

“Ace of Spades” is a $5 Scratchers game with prizes ranging from $5 to $100,000. Currently, there are over $5.9 million in unclaimed prizes, including another $100,000 top prize and three $20,000 prizes.

In FY22, players in Jasper County won more than $16.4 million in Missouri Lottery prizes, retailers received more than $1.6 million in commissions and bonuses, and more than $9.8 million in Lottery proceeds went to education programs in the county.
