Wife’s Idea Leads to $186,000 Show Me Cash Jackpot Prize

Sep. 28, 2023

While at QuikTrip, 10845 Lilac Ave. in Bellefontaine, a Missouri Lottery player was picking out his tickets when his wife had an idea that would end up being worth $186,000.

“I usually only play Powerball and Mega Millions, but my wife said I should play the in-state games too,” he said.

So he purchased a Show Me Cash ticket for the July 15 drawing – a decision that would lead him to a jackpot prize.

Time went by, and he hadn’t though too much of his purchase until his wife checked the numbers against the winning numbers from the drawing several weeks later.

“She goes, ‘Honey, I think we won $186,000.’ and I told her to stop playing with me!” he shared.

She quickly showed him the winning numbers on MOLottery.com – 7, 8, 14, 16 and 25 – but he had a hard time believing it was real.

“I’m like, ‘Is this an official site?’ and she was like, ‘It’s the official Lottery site!’” he laughed.

He shared it still didn’t feel real even after he had officially claimed the prize.

“I just looked at my wife going, ‘This ain’t real,’” he said.

Show Me Cash is drawn daily at 8:59 p.m., with jackpots that start at $50,000 and grow until won. Tonight’s jackpot is estimated at $424,000

In FY23, players in St. Louis County won more than $207.7 million in Missouri Lottery prizes, retailers received more than $20 million in commissions and bonuses, and more than $76 million in Lottery proceeds went to education programs in the county.
