A Stop for Gas Turns into a $50,000 Powerball Prize

Apr. 05, 2024

A quick stop for gas in Maryland Heights turned into a $50,000 Powerball prize for a lucky Missouri Lottery player when the ticket he purchased there matched four of the five white-ball numbers, plus the Powerball in the March 25 drawing.

The winning numbers were 7, 11, 19, 53 and 68 with a Powerball of 23. The winner purchased the ticket at Alta Convenience, 12421 Dorsett Road in Maryland Heights, and later claimed his prize as the lottery’s St. Louis regional office.

“I stopped in for gas before the gym, walked in, and put down $20,” the winner shared.

When he realized he had won, it didn’t really hit him until later.

“The wife was so excited, she couldn’t sleep that night.” he laughed, “But it still really hasn’t hit me.”

He also shared plans for remodeling.

Powerball is multi-state Draw Game with drawings held on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays at 9:59 p.m. Saturday’s Powerball jackpot is an estimated $1.23 billion – the fourth largest in the game’s history.

In FY23, players in St. Louis County received more than $207.7 million in Missouri Lottery prizes, while retailers received over $20 million in commissions and bonuses. Educational programs in the county received more than $76 million.
