Early Christmas Shopping Leads to $50,000 Prize

Nov. 16, 2022

While Christmas shopping for her children, a Missouri Lottery player stopped at Murphy USA, 1645 A Roy Drive in Washington, to purchase gas and three Quick Pick Powerball tickets for the Oct. 31 drawing.

The player explained that she scanned her tickets on the Missouri Lottery app, and one of those tickets revealed she’d won a prize. It wasn’t until she went to redeem the ticket, that a convenience store clerk uncovered the actual amount of the prize.

“She said, ‘“You won $50,000.” “I didn’t believe it!” she exclaimed.

The ticket matched four of the five white-ball numbers, as well as the Powerball number drawn, to win a $50,000 prize.

The winner plans to use the money to purchase Christmas gifts and pay bills.

The winning numbers on Oct. 31 were 13, 19, 36, 39 and 59, with a Powerball number of 13.

Powerball  is a $2 per play multi-state Draw Game with drawings held on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays at 9:59 p.m. All current and past winning numbers can be found at MOLottery.com.

In FY22, players in Franklin County won more than $21.6 million in Missouri Lottery prizes, retailers received more than $2.1 million in commissions and bonuses, and more than $4.5 million in Lottery proceeds went to education programs in the county.
