Apr. 04, 2024

A Missouri Lottery Scratchers player originally forgot to scratch his “$1,000,000 Money Multiplier” ticket, but when he did he was surprised to find he had won a $50,000 prize.

He bought the winning ticket at Laney’s, 500 S. Main St. in Pleasant Hope, placing it on an end table and forgetting to scratch it until the next morning.

“I woke up and scratched it off. I said, ‘Wait a minute. Wait a minute. This isn’t right,’” he laughed. “I said to my wife, ‘I think I won a lot of money here. I think I won $50,000!’”

Plans for the money include taking a trip.

“$1,000,000 Money Multiplier” is a $10 Scratchers game. Since its release, players have won more than $25.8 million and more than $8.1 million remain in unclaimed prizes, including a top prize of $1 million.

In FY23, players in Polk County won more than $4.5 million in Missouri Lottery prizes. Retailers received over $460,000 in commissions and bonuses, while more than $1.1 million went to educational programs in the county.
