Playing "Crossword" paid off for a Dixon homemaker when she uncovered a $5,000 cash prize today. Geraldine McDaniel, 60, said she bought four or five different Missouri Lottery Scratchers tickets when she stopped at Town & Country Super Market in Dixon to get a few groceries. When she scratched the tickets at home later, the one "Crossword" Scratchers ticket turned out to be a $5,000 winner. McDaniel said she and her husband, Floyd, plan to use the winnings to pay some bills and maybe take a small trip to Branson or Lake of the Ozarks.
But this isn’t the first time the McDaniels won a large prize playing the Missouri Lottery. She said she won $1,000 last year, and Floyd won $100,000 playing Powerball on Jan. 3, 1998.
The Missouri Lottery’s $3 "Crossword" game officially started Oct. 12.
