CONTESTANTS WIN $50,000 IN WHEEL SPIN

A self-employed Marthasville landscaper paved $25,000 for himself by participating in the Missouri Lottery’s sixth "Fun & Fortune Wheel Spin" held at 2 p.m. today in Jefferson City.  Mark Jacquin, 27, said he plans to pay bills and take a vacation with his prize money.

"Now, I might buy some new equipment," he said, after finding out that his prize was $25,000.

Jacquin, who purchased his qualifying ticket at S & R Convenience Center in Marthasville, said this was the only entry he has ever sent in for the Wheel Spin.

In addition to Jacquin’s win, three other contestants won large prizes in the Wheel Spin.  Mary Jane Rosenberg, 27, of St. Charles won $10,000; David Brooks, 52, of Iberia won $10,000; and Stephanie May-Fuller, 39, of St. Louis (63136*) won $5,000.

Rosenberg, a data entry clerk for St. John’s Hospital in Creve Coeur, purchased her qualifying ticket at Dirt Cheap Cigarettes and Beer in St. Charles.  She said she plans to pay bills with some of the money and save the remainder.

Brooks, who is on disability, bought his qualifying ticket at Fanchers in Iberia.  He said he plans to give the store some money to have a party, to buy some nice things for his family for Christmas, and he said he "knows a few people who could stand a little help."   Brooks, who currently lives with his daughter, said he also plans to get an apartment of his own.

May-Fuller, who is a bakery manager at Dierbergs - Clocktower, said her mother bought her qualifying ticket for her about six months ago at Shop ’N’ Save in St. Louis.  She plans to use her prize money to buy Christmas presents for her four girls.

In addition to the prize money won through the actual Wheel Spin event, the contestants also received a check for $500 for being selected as a finalist.

The new "Fun & Fortune Wheel Spin" replaced the televised "Fun & Fortune" game show.   For a chance to win $500 and a chance to spin the wheel, players need to buy a $2 "Fun & Fortune" wheel spin Scratchers ticket.  If the ticket is a winner and the prize is "ENTRY," the ticket should be mailed to Lottery headquarters in Jefferson

City to be placed in a weekly drawing.   Each week, 10 of these "ENTRY" tickets will be drawn, and those winners will receive $500.  In addition, one of these 10 preliminary winners will be drawn for a chance to spin the wheel and win up to $250,000.  The smallest amount a player can win in the Wheel Spin is $2,500.

The "Fun & Fortune Wheel Spin" is open to the public.   It is also streamed on the Lottery’s Web site for players to watch from anywhere in the world.
