Story Photo video icon A 25-year-old Belle man is $50,000 richer after participating in the Missouri Lottery’s seventh "Fun & Fortune Wheel Spin" held at 2 p.m. Jan. 10 in Jefferson City.  Allen Brown said he only had one entry in the drawing.

"Wednesday is my lucky day, so I delivered my entry to the Lottery on Wednesday (Dec. 11), and it was drawn," said Brown, who is employed with Wal-Mart in Jefferson City.

Brown said he plans to use his prize money to pay bills and buy a new car.   He purchased his qualifying "Fun & Fortune" entry ticket at Cork N Bottle in Belle.

In addition to Brown’s win, three other contestants won large prizes in the Wheel Spin.  Barbara Collins of West Plains and Doyle Hillis of Arnold both won $10,000, and Tracey Schenewerk of Herculaneum won $2,500.  A total of $72,500 in cash was awarded during the Jan. 10 Wheel Spin and a total of $859,500 in prizes has been awarded to the 28 finalists during the Lottery’s first seven spins.

This was the second time Collins was drawn for the Wheel Spin.  On Aug. 23, she won $50,000.  Collins said she used the $50,000 in prize money to pay off a loan, put a new roof on her trailer, buy new living room furniture and buy a riding lawn mower.  She plans to use the Jan. 10 prize money to buy a carport and a new windshield for her car.

Collins purchased her qualifying ticket at Snappy Mart in West Plains.

Hillis, who is a forklift operator, said he plans to use his $10,000 in prize money to visit his youngest son in Washington.  He purchased his qualifying ticket at 7-Eleven in Arnold.

Schenewerk said she will use her $2,500 in Wheel Spin winnings to pay bills.  She bought her qualifying ticket at QuikTrip in Herculaneum.

In addition to the prize money won through the actual Wheel Spin event, the contestants also received a check for $500 for being selected as a finalist.

The "Fun & Fortune Wheel Spin" replaced the televised "Fun & Fortune" game show.   For a chance to win $500 and a chance to spin the wheel, players need to buy a $2 "Fun & Fortune" wheel spin Scratchers ticket.  If the ticket is a winner and the prize is "ENTRY," the ticket should be mailed to Lottery headquarters in Jefferson City to be placed in a weekly drawing.  Each week, 10 of these "ENTRY" tickets are drawn, and those winners receive $500.  In addition, one of these 10 preliminary winners will be drawn for a chance to spin the wheel and win up to $250,000.  The smallest amount a player can win in the Wheel Spin is $2,500.

The "Fun & Fortune Wheel Spin" is open to the public.   It is also streamed on the Lottery’s Web site for players to watch from anywhere in the world.
