SEYMOUR MAN UNCOVERS $10,000 IN MONEYBAGS

Story Photo A 50-year-old Seymour man got the new year off to a great start after he uncovered a $10,000 top prize in the Missouri Lottery’s "Moneybags" instant game.   Ricky "Rick" Zvolanek said he and his wife, Teresa, plan to use the prize money to pay bills and maybe buy a bigger television set.

Zvolanek said on New Year’s Eve, he stopped at MPI, 2885 E. Chestnut Expressway in Springfield, to buy gas.   While there he redeemed a $10 winning "Moneybags" ticket from a previous purchase, and he asked the clerk to give him five more of the $1 "Moneybags" tickets and $5 in cash.  He scratched the five tickets when he got home and discovered one was worth $10,000.

"My wife was recently laid off, so money was getting tight," said Zvolanek, who works at Riback Supply in Springfield.

"Moneybags," a $1 Scratchers game, officially went on sale Dec. 25.
