THEATRE EMPLOYEES SHARING $100,000 POWERBALL PRIZE

A group of 26 people, 22 of whom are employed with the Wehrenberg Theatres in Des Peres including the owner and his wife, are sharing a $100,000 prize after playing Powerball as a group for the Christmas day record jackpot drawing.   The members of the pool will share prizes ranging from $467 to $9,346, depending on the amount of money they contributed to the pool.  The contributions ranged from 50 cents to $10.

The winners are:   Diane Byers (63122*), Mary Huskey (63128*), Madelan Krueger (63127*), Ronald Krueger (63127*) and Michael Neuman(63129*), all of St. Louis; LaVerne Szydlowski of Arnold;   Gail Wolff and Richard Meyer, both of Ballwin; Daniel Herron of Fenton; Sherry Heida of Labadie; James Caban and Lois Oakley, both of Maryland Heights; William "Bill" Menke, Susan Menke, Elizabeth Menke and David Zinselmeier, all of St. Charles; Ginger McClenahan of St. Peters; Joelle Mitchell and John Mitchell, both of University City; Linda Gareau, Doris Heywood and John Hynes, all of Valley Park; Mary Silberberg and Jennifer Whitford, both of Wildwood; Jayne Stephenson of Brussels, Ill.;  and Angelo Alvarez of O’Fallon, Ill.

Bill Menke, director of facilities for the theaters, organized the pool and purchased the winning ticket at Convenient Food Mart, 1750 O’Fallon Road in St. Charles.   He used the Quick Pick feature to select the winning combination.  Those numbers were:  5, 14, 16, 29 and 53.

The winners plan to use their prize money for everything from putting money towards a down payment on a house to helping with a daughter’s upcoming college expenses.   Many are using their prize winnings to help pay for Christmas expenses.

"It couldn’t have come at a better time," said Sherry Heida.

To date, 636 Powerball tickets sold in Missouri have matched all five white-ball numbers drawn to win the $100,000 prize.
