BROOKFIELD MAN STARTS NEW YEAR WITH $10,000 WIN

Story Photo A Brookfield man got a jump-start on his New Year celebration Tuesday after winning $10,000 in the Missouri Lottery’s "$100,000 Payday" Scratchers game.   Michael Woodard, 26, said he plans to pay bills and get his truck fixed with his winnings.

Woodard, who works as a welder for a Brookfield company, said he stopped at Main Stop, 104 W. Helm in Brookfield, on his way home from work early Tuesday to buy a sandwich.   While there he decided to buy two Scratchers tickets.  The first ticket he scratched off was the $5 “$100,000 Payday” ticket.

“I didn’t think I was seeing things right, so I had my buddy look at the ticket, and he’s the one who told me I won $10,000,” Woodard said.

"$100,000 Payday," which went on sale Oct. 12, offers a top prize of $100,000 and a chance to win up to 20 times on each ticket.
