Illinois Fisherman's Biggest Catch is Green

Story Photo

Fred Flaugher of Granite City, Illinois, is no stranger to Missouri. He lives about 10 miles from the Missouri state line and, as a fisherman, enjoys all the lakes and rivers it has to offer. It’s also just close enough that Flaugher can enjoy playing both the Missouri and Illinois Lotteries - including the Dec. 1 Show Me Cash drawing, when he reeled in the $361,000 jackpot.

“I’ve been playing Show Me Cash for years,” said Flaugher. “I’ve been playing the Missouri Lottery for about 20 years.”

Flaugher bought the ticket the day of the drawing using his own set of numbers he has been playing for many years: 14-19-27-31-37.
“I have these sets of numbers I keep on cards that I play over and over,” said Flaugher. “I pay attention to the numbers, and those are just the numbers I put down, and bam! It hit.”

He plans to use the money towards his faith, health and home.
“First thing, 10 percent belongs to Jesus. After that I have two knees that need replacements,” said Flaugher. “Then I will probably invest in a new roof. Maybe even one with wheels and travel somewhere warmer.”
Flaugher purchased his winning ticket at Riverview Motomart, 11005 Riverview Drive, in St. Louis. Riverview Motomart received a $500 bonus check for selling the winning ticket.
In 2016, Show Me Cash produced 52 jackpot winners with an average prize of more than $158,000. For more information on all our Draw Games or current jackpots, please visit MOLottery.com.
