Mother and Son Split $50,000 Jackpot

When Judy Hacking of Cedar Hill claimed a Show Me Cash jackpot worth $50,000 on Dec. 19, she had a difficult time putting her experience winning the Missouri Lottery into perspective.

“It’s hard to explain. It’s almost like a dream,” said Hacking. “It was pretty hard to believe, because I checked the last number first and worked my way to the first number.”

Hacking’s eyes may have been strained after checking her ticket multiple times, but she was, in fact, the owner of the sole Show Me Cash ticket that matched all five numbers drawn in the Dec. 17 drawing.

A fan of both Missouri Lotto and Show Me Cash Draw Games, Hacking said that she sometimes uses Quick Pick to have the Lottery terminal randomly choose her numbers for her, but more often, she uses her own combinations of both lucky and random numbers. Such was the case when Hacking purchased her ticket for the Dec. 17 drawing and decided to pick her own numbers at random, which were: 4, 14, 18, 31 and 39.

“I will definitely keep playing now that I know I can win,” said Hacking, who is splitting her $50,000 prize with her son, Jeff Hacking of Fenton. “This will take a lot of worry away. If I have an unexpected car repair or emergency, I won’t have to worry about where the money will come from.”

In the eight years since Show Me Cash began, 439 Show Me Cash jackpots have been won. The Hackings’ jackpot is the second Show Me Cash jackpot ticket sold at Express Mart, 8200 Industrial Drive, in Cedar Hill. The retail location previously sold one of two winning Show Me Cash tickets for the Dec. 20, 2014, drawing worth $423,000. Express Mart received a $500 bonus check after selling each jackpot ticket.
